worst place ever they gave my mother information about me when I never gave them permission to do so.
*Punishments -- you can get put on social isolation (sit outside the main common room, no talking to anyone else; sometimes unable to go to cafeteria; unable to get desert, play in gym (including exercise equipment), go outside, watch television programs, participate in Friday Movie Night (the previous repercussions are actually pretty reasonable, if you think about it...a home away from home, getting "grounded" away from home)
We would come back and work on our packets for the day, although don't think they just threw paper work at us -- it was simply to help with our treatment. It wasn't the only factor of it. Depending on why you were admitted, the packets varied. One packet I remember specifically was evaluating situations beforehand and then writing how you would respond.
*Rooms were fairly comfortable, clean restrooms
Between the packets and board games, we would be busy until dinner. You were able to sit with the others (although there wasn't a rule, I think, the boys sat with boys and the girls with girls) unless your were on BSM (Behavioral...something....something?) or cafe restriction. They give you plenty of food (all of good variety) and there was this sweet woman behind the counter who always made the best corn bread!
*Regular out door time
*Littler kids always seemed to be getting dragged off to the "quiet room/isolation room" or getting shots
*Saw therapist and psychiatrist daily; saw doc once every few days
BAD:
*Huge gym with volleyball net, exercise equipment, pool table, etc...
My primary issue with this clinic isnt the "doc" herself, or so i hope, its the medical assistant "Nadia". I've told her multiple times that i my insurance WILL NOT pay for the 225mg Effexor that i've been prescribed, but that changing it to 150MG x2 a day will incur no copay. Despite this, every time i have to get a refill, i have to call this clinic multiple times to get them to understand this. I've even had "nadia" tell me that "they didnt prescribe 150MG". This is curious, as im not sure how i got the medication if they didnt prescribe it. I'm not a doctor, and no one else is writing prescriptions. Due to this ignorance or apathy, i've got that last several days without my anti-depressant. the withdrawals have been horrendous, and there's no way i can get in contact with the the medical assistant, much less Ms. Wendy Johnson. This is absurd, and borderline malpractice. I'd also like to point out that i was told by Nadia that if i didn't get a therapist in addition to the one i already have, they would flat-out not refill the prescriptions that THEY had already begun. This is incompetence bordering malpractice. I called them once to tell them that i couldn't afford the 225mg effexor, to be told by Nadia "i don't know what to tell you". Absolutely ridiculous, and incredibly negligent. DO NOT GO HERE IF YOU HAVE OTHER OPTIONS. just my .02.
GOOD:
*Hold little "celebrations" for the holidays
Every morning,we would wake up, get our vital checked, and then do our hygiene. On school days and weekdays, we would go over our 3 (minimum) goals for the day. The only rule -- it had be achievable, not overused goals such as "not be depressed" or "think positive." On school days, we would go to breakfast and then straight to class (with a break for lunch, of course). Around the end of class time, we would head down to the gym or the craft room -sometimes the activities were organized, sometimes they weren't, but stretches were a guarantee in gym, let me tell ya. :p
Overall, the staff is very helpful. They seem to actually care about your treatment and expect you too as well (in other words, they want your input).
I was admitted here several times over the course of 1-2 months - it wasn't particularly the center's fault, that they hadn't helped me out enough, but there are some things to take note of (adolescent unit):
*Staff is generally friendly
*Decent food (for a hospital, ya know?)
*Have to walk down the halls, hands behind back, no talking
