A waste of everyone’s time.
Psychiatrist are not up to date with the times.
If you have a choice: go to Scott & White!
They do group therapy once a day and have a schedule where we eat breakfast. Watch movies. Eat lunch. Watch movies. Eat dinner. Watch movies. Some days we go to a gym and other days it's yoga but we're teenagers and most of us that won't work. One nurse was amazing. But honestly. In the gym they have ropes hanging down from what I was told used to be a climbing wall. And they also give us a sandwich wrapped in cellophane then don't even bother to check if we threw out the plastic. To me it did nothing. I sat and read the whole time and left after enough days of saying I wasn't suicidal or homicidal. They could try to do more. Maybe give us games or something instead of crayons. We're teenagers not psychos.
This place really did make a difference in my step daughters lufe. She did in patient and spent most the summer doing out patient . Only thing is I believe they over diagnose these trends and over medicate . My step daughter has never experienced any trauma yet she was diagnosed with PTSD at 15 years old. Though she can be manipulative as lots of teens can be, I feel her therapist did not take the time to read between the lines with her. Yes she has issues. This I'm very aware of but to put a 15 year old on 150 mg of seriquil is way too much plus high doses of 2 other medications. Two addictive to be slowly taken down off of. So I have my questions about the Dr who prescribed these meds but I have to admit as far as her therapists they did an awesome job . Her only complaint was the food lol.
If you have been diagnosed with anything they question the outcome. Difficult to get RX’s since they didn’t diagnose, in house.
My Adult Daughter has several conditions from: ADHD, Epilepsy, has a VP shunt, many behavior issues (due to lack of oxygen during labor)...this place is unrealistic.
YOU DON'T TAKE IN DRUG USERS AND SHOT THEM UP BECAUSE YOU DON'T AGREE WITH THEIR BEHAVIOR, MY SON WAS WOKEN OUT OF HIS SLEEP TO BE GIVEN A SEDATIVE.....VERY ODD WAY OF TREATING A PATIENT WITH CONTROLLED SUBSTANCE ABUSE PROBLEMS!!!!
IF YOU CHILD NEEDS HELP, DO NOT GO TO THESE PEOPLE. THEY TAKE YOUR CHILD IN SO THEY CAN BILL YOUR INSURANCE AND THEN KICK THEM OUT BECAUSE THEY CAN NOT DEAL WITH YOUR CHILD! AND THEN WHEN YOU COME TO PICK UP YOUR CHILD THEY SEND OUT A NURSE FROM ANOTHER UNIT TO DISCHARGE HIM BECAUSE THEY DON'T WANT TO TALK TO YOU. (I FEEL SO BAD FOR THAT NURSE BECAUSE EVEN SHE WAS EMBARRASSED BY THE LEVEL OF UNPROFESSIONALISM THAT WAS DISPLAYED AT HER OWN WORK PLACE!!!!!)
She will always need medication, but the goal was for her to not take any medication.
It was just horrible. No actual therapy, rude staff, and unattentive doctors. I honestly felt worse there than I did at home
When you have a hyper/not able to stay focused person who has Grand Mal Seizures, & borderline Schizophrenia...it’s only realistic for her to stay on her medication.
After Dr. King left...this place went down hill.
