I agree that this office needs more people working there, BUT after going there 3 times and finally realizing I was the one making it more difficult. IF you are going to the Killeen DMV then do yourself a favor and listen to what they tell you, read what they give you and fill out what forms they tell you to fill out. The lady who helped me had to sit there for about 15 minutes while I filled out the forms I was given 2 hours prior to having my number called. I didn't have my social security card, and once I actually read the pamphlet I notice it said right there that I had to have it. It goes much quicker up there if you do what is asked. You cannot use copies, you cannot get your way arguing about state laws. Remember, the people working there don't make the laws and policies up, and are only trying to do their job. Although some of them are a little strange everyone I spoke with was very nice.
Other than the wait I had great assistance. Got there right when they opened, 1 lady let everyone know what paperwork they needed, the lady at the counter got me through quickly and was very nice throughout the process.
If you get there early and have proper documentation it’s not bad at all! Took my son to get his license today and it was smooth and easy experience!
I was expecting a wait but SIX HOURS? The "L" category happened to be the largest group there and some people were there HOURS before I was so imagine their frustration when they weren't seen until CLOSING just like the rest of the "L"s. To spend your entire day (9am-5pm) while watching people who literally walked in 20 minutes ago be helped. At one point it would make PERFECT logical sense to stand up and say "anyone who has been here for more than 3 hours, make a line and we'll help y'all first". Instead there were people waiting 8 hours and others waiting 20 minutes all because the "L" category was only called once every 10-15 tickets. In one hour they only made it through FIVE "L" tickets. I saw about 14 people complain in my SIX hours of waiting and nothing changed. I would expect to be there 1-3 hours but some people spent 8 hours there!!! Absolutely horrible considering how many times I saw the workers taking "breaks", socializing and playing on their phones. No kindness from management either. They would address the HUGE crowd by SCREAMING, acting like it's our fault it's way over crowded and that we were the assholes for being upset about a six+ hour wait. You can expect patience up until a certain point. I was even more upset to hear there were appointments and you can by pass the entire wait by making an appointment online. That's completely unfair to the 40 and growing costumers you've had waiting all day. Horrible experience and I heard a young man joke how he's never driving again because this is absolutely ridiculous.
I could not agree more with Bobbi. I took my son to get his permit, we did the parent taught driver's ed. I went through the packet with a fine tooth comb, and brought what it said I needed to bring. It's funny how much quicker and easier things are when you actually read and do what you're supposed to. No one was rude. The lady with the crazy eyes at the front desk was very weird and kept laughing this creepy laugh, but even she was nice.
