Never rent from this company, use U-Haul, pay the extra money, and have much better moving experience. I showed up shortly after opening to pick up the 16" rental and trailer that I had reserved 4 days prior and had to wait about 20 minutes as the employees shuffled around trying to get situated for the day. We then had to wait while the wrong trucks were brought up and then replaced for whatever reason until a truck that we could use was brought to us. Then during the walk around my girlfriend had spotted that some of the safety equipment needed for the trailer was missing which they then had to salvage from another trailer that was originally supposed to be ours until they noticed that it was missing an entire tire. The whole process set us back about 2 hours. Before we left we noted that the gas tank that is supposed to be "Full" was not and the Budget representative had made a comment that she did not understand why but that I could just bring it back at the level it was showing. I should also note that she was very friendly. However, after finally getting the truck loaded and heading out on the road, I quickly found out why the tank was not full when I tried to refill it at the pump and watched as fuel started to spill all over the ground due to the rubber hose that connects the fill neck and the gas tank being almost all the way torn around. I then called Budget Roadside Assistance to report the problem and they told me that it could take up to an hour for someone to come out just to look at the problem. I asked if it was possible for me to find a temporary solution to the problem if I could simply continue down the road and call them once I had reached a hotel and they assured me that that would be fine and that the service was 24 hours. I called them at about 9:54 pm and a technician showed up at about 10:37 pm (left by 11:00 pm). He then looked at the problem that I had explained over the phone and told me that they were not sure if they had the part to fix it and would not know until at least 10:30 am the next day. Being very unsatisfied with this whole situation and how much it was setting back my schedule I decided to go to sleep and that tomorrow would be another day and a fresh start. I was then woken up by a call at 1:26 AM from the Budget Roadside Assistance who chose to wake ME up to get an update on the situation because as the woman on the phone put it, "we tried to call the technician but he must be asleep." I am confused why it was my responsibility as a customer to keep them updated on the situation and not the technician's. I could not believe the call and asked if they were in the habit of calling their customers at such a late time and when she started to take an attitude with me I simply hung up. My girlfriend has rented from a Budget in Boise, ID and had a wonderful experience so I do not know if it is the location or the company as a whole but I will just stick with U-Haul next time, whom I've never had a problem with.
They aren't specific with their rental guidelines and it takes 7+ business days to get your money back for a reservation that was canceled and never completed. Kind of absurd. Still waiting for me $486 to return to my account, 4 business days later. Their representative confirmed reservation said they would accept my card. At the counter it was different. Customer service said my money would be back in my account in three business days. Now it's "7-10 business days." Definitely worth spending the extra $30-40 to go with uhaul or enterprise.
Ok first let's just say I will never again for the rest of my like ever rent another budget truck. I will dig deep down and spend the extra money for a uhaul or Penske. My sister in law and I went in to the Bellco office to pick our budget truck up that we had rented online. When we entered we was asked how we could be helped and my sister in law proceeded to tell them we were there to pick the rental truck up. The man gave us the most confused look and told us they didn't rent trucks. Very confused we checked the email to make sure we had the right address and we did. We asked if they knew where the budget truck office was located at and he immediately said "oh that's us ". Then we was told to wait for the lady that was in charge of the rental trucks. She came in about 20 minutes later. He told her to take care of us. With a confused look she came over to us and told us she had no idea what she was doing. We said it was ok and continued to bare with her. After over a hour of her trying to figure the paperwork out and trying to get someone to pull the truck around we was finally at the truck inspection part of the process. Lol ok before the inspection we was told the truck must been returned clean and full on gas or there would be a 30$ charge for both and the truck must be return before the close of business at our final destination. Due to the fact we was in a rush we really didn't look at the cleanliness of the truck until we was pulling out. The cab of the truck was trashed it had dried soda, dog fur, and god only knows what else in it and the bed of the truck had debris and dried mud in it. When we finished packin the truck and left we stopped at a gas station about 250 miles away when I went to fill the truck up it wouldn't let me fill it . It would only take 2cents in gas at a time. After trying multiple gas pumps I had to call roadside assistance. The company that came out was amazing he did he could to get the truck to take the gas and get me back on the road. Upon arrival to drop the truck off I was told I was supposed to have the truck back by 9am that morning so the company was trying to charge us 117$ for the extra few hours. After explaining everything to the lady and customer service we didn't have to pay the extra charge. Needless to say we learned a life lesson and will never make this mistake again.
I got great customer service.
On my local bank's behalf, the total for my truck rental was processed when my card could not be verified by the dealer. However, the employees were not willing to provide an approval code to my secondary bank when $1203.14 of my funds were on hold for four days. The dealer also provided an incorrect pickup date to customer service, I could not receive assistance regarding my billing issue because the date I provided did not match what was recorded in the system. I booked my reservation online and a truck was not available when I arrived to the original pickup site. The "system" was down from open to close on June 30, my pick up date. The dealer claimed no discounts could be applied since a manual contract had to be used. I was traveling during a holiday so I was in a hurry and I'm considerate of unexpected issues beyond the dealers control, but I will use Uhaul, Enterprise, or Penske next time. Customer service not the dealer made any effort to ease the frustration of my move from Texas to California, nor accept any responsibility for the errors within their control during my transactions.
