People who know me know that I don’t get nasty to people handling my food and this experience was no different on my end. But for this man to treat me like a scammer and try to provoke me by calling me an angry Black woman is just a really awful way to run a business.
This is our go to place when we're in Killeen running grooming appointments. The staff is pretty much always on top of tables. Never had a problem with our food. Tres leches is delicious too!
I went to Taqueria Mexico #4 on Stan Schlueter and ordered a large chips and queso. I went to the drive through and the lady on the speaker told me to skip the line and she’d bring me my “chips and queso” out. (Yes, she said chips and queso.) So I’m like cool. I drive around, she comes out, hands me the bag, I hand her my debit card and she goes inside. She comes out a few minutes later with the receipt, which I did not look at because it was dark and I trusted they got my order right because they’ve never messed up before. I sign for it, give her the pen and the receipt book back and go home ready to snack on some chips and queso and watch Real Housewives of Atalanta. I get home, and what do I pull out? Chips and salsa.
That said, I will be taking my “angry” Black dollars elsewhere. And that includes taquerias 1, 2 and 3. And if there’s a five, that one too.

Now, I eat there all the time, I take out of town visitors there, not because the food is particularly good, but because it’s conveniently located to my house and who doesn’t like Mexican food? In the two years I’ve been going there, I’ve never experienced any sort of bad service or anything to give me pause. But for the owner of the restaurant to start trying to play me up as the angry ghetto Black woman when I never once raised my voice at him or his employees was such an insulting response to an unsatisfied Black customer. And frankly, it’s classic racism.
Food was really tasty and fresh! Service was outstanding! Julie took good care of us. Place was clean and welcoming. We couldn't asked for more.
Pause.
So I’m like ok, this is fine; I’ll just call them and tell them about the mix up and have my chips and queso, right? Wrong? I call them and the manager/ owner starts talking to me like I’m trying to run a scam and I’m like “dude, I just really wanted queso, I’m not trying to make a fuss.” So he politely says, “come back up here, we’ll take care of you don’t worry about it.” Cool. I get in my car with the salsa and I drive back up there, this time I go inside. The person at the front says, “we were expecting you” the manager comes out and gives me a bag. I walk to my car with the bag and I’m like “this is really light” so I check the bag and what do I find inside? A small queso. So, I go back inside and I calmly say to one of the employees at the front, “you know what, nevermind, just give me my money back.” At this point, the manager comes around the corner, sees me and I say “I just want a refund.” He snatches my card out of my hand and goes in the back. The person who runs the front apologizes and says “I’m sorry, they should’ve comped you for the queso since we messed up.” I smile and I was like, “it’s fine, I just wasn’t meant to have queso today.” Then the manager comes back out with two receipts for me to sign and I ask him, “is there anyone I can talk to about this?” And he says in a really nasty tone, “nope, I’m the manager and the owner. I’m it.” So I say, “ok, well this was really petty, rude and extremely unprofessional.” And he says, “ruder than you yelling and screaming at me?”
